Interagency coordination

U.S. Central Command announced at 13:30 UTC on November 7 that its commander, Admiral Brad Cooper, had directed the formation of Task Force Iron Gate. The internal staff will comprise approximately 20 civilian and military personnel based in Tampa, Florida.[1]

CENTCOM said the team will coordinate with other U.S. government agencies to prevent advanced weapons systems, dual-use technologies, sanctioned materials and illegal revenue streams from moving across Iran’s land borders and the Caspian Sea. The arrangement supplements the existing naval blockade; no deployment of ground combat troops was announced.[1]
