THE SHORT VERSION

The key blocks

  • A peg is a design objective, not a no-risk guarantee.
  • Holding a token may not grant direct redemption access.
  • Read the terms before comparing advertised yields.
01 /

Split the dollar promise into three questions

What price does the product target, which mechanism supports it, and under which conditions can holders exchange it for another asset? A USD label does not make every design or right equivalent.

Our comparison framework begins with issuer, network, contract and official terms. Keep native issuance distinct from a bridged representation.

02 /

Date the reserve evidence

BIS research discusses credit, market and liquidity risks in stablecoin reserves. Inspect the reporting period and asset categories before deciding what a reserve document establishes.

Record the provider, scope, limitations and update frequency. Different forms of assurance should not silently become interchangeable guarantees.

03 /

Identify your redemption route

Selling on an exchange and redeeming directly with an issuer are different routes. Direct access may depend on identity, location, minimum amounts, fees or processing times under the applicable product terms.

Write down the intended use: transfer, temporary holding or a particular application. Then examine the exit route that the use actually requires.

04 /

Separate the token from the yield product

Research the stablecoin, the custody platform and the yield-producing strategy as separate layers. A displayed return does not establish an issuer promise or immediate access to principal.

Ask who pays the yield, where assets sit and what lockups or reuse terms apply. A stable label is not an explanation of an opaque return.

05 /

Draw the exit path

Map every service needed to transfer, sell or redeem from the current holding location. Annotate restrictions and costs. The exercise identifies dependencies; it is not a product endorsement.

This evergreen guide does not compare live prices, yields or current product-specific legal requirements. Recheck official terms and applicable local rules before an actual decision.
