  • Binance says fake recruitment interviews were part of a multistage attack; its initial findings await independent review.

Initial investigation findings

Binance released initial findings on November 3 about its October 29 security incident. It said an engineer downloaded an assignment containing malicious code onto a work computer during a fake recruitment interview in September. The attackers later used the compromised computer and an internal AI tool to take control of other engineers' computers before gaining access to wallet-signing systems.[1]

Binance said it has rebuilt the affected wallet systems and internal AI tool, revoked the engineers' credentials and will absorb the losses from the stolen funds. The company stressed that the investigation is ongoing and its initial findings remain subject to independent review.[1]
